A&R member and union steward Jamie Findley is a Tax Corrections Examiner 2 at the Department of Revenue Services. With 36 years of state service, Jamie’s commitment to public service goes well beyond the realm of DRS. Jamie is in the A&R Spotlight because of his recent 22 day deployment with the American Red Cross to the devastated island of Puerto Rico.
Update 10/22/17
Furlough Update: A while back we explained that the A&R furlough language had changed. This was true, however, agencies weren't allowing this to occur because they had not been given the updated "guidance" from OLR; agencies were operating under the original "guidance" which only allowed for 3 specific furlough days (Nov 24, Dec. 26, Dec. 27). The agencies have now received the revised guidance so we can end the conflicting stories. The new language reads as such:
A few weeks ago the General Assembly passed a budget which in many respects was extremely hostile to State Employees. The budget put before the Governor included provisions severely restricting future collective bargaining rights. In essence, that budget represented a direct assault on the future of collective bargaining in Connecticut.
The AFT national office has offered to run a Student Debt Clinic at A&R on Thursday 10/12 from 6:00 - 7:30pm. This Clinic will be open to all A&R members and their families. There is no need to pre-register, feel free to simply stop by. There will be a light meal served.
