Upcoming Events To Ensure Your Future

UPDATED  2/18/16
We can make a difference in our future over the next 10 weeks.  There are several activities where the presence of A&R employees (along with other State Employees) will impact our livelihoods.  In general, we need to engage our State Legislators and the Governor.  Each legislator is interested in "customer feedback" so we need to do just that...and that begins this week.

  • We have testified to the Legislature on the Governor's Budget
  • We have attended the Governor's Budget Forum and had 3 A&R employees ask questions

The next events where we need to show our presence:

  • Governor's Budget Open Forum Tuesday, February 23, 2016.
The forum will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the atrium of Wilbur Cross High School (181 Mitchell Drive, New Haven).
  • The Regional Legislative Meetings:
March 5:    9:00-10:30 Elis on the Hill, Branford
March 12:  8:30-10:00 Lyme Tavern Restaurant, Niantic            March 12:  11:30-1:00 Willimantic Brewing Company, Willimantic
March 19:  8:30-10:00 Manor Inn Restaurant, Milldale            March 19:  11:30-1:00 Marco Polo Restaurant, East Hartford
    March 22:  5:30-7:00 Testo’s Restaurant, Bridgeport
    April 2:  9:30-11:00 Armando’s Restaurant, Bethel

A&R buttons will be provided to all attendees at all of these events and for everyone who signs-in we will begin a raffle system with prizes to be drawn in the upcoming weeks.  Show your support, take control of your future.

The first 2 events were Tuesday Feb 16th

  1. The Appropriations Cmte Meeting at the LOB room 2C at 4:00pm.  The Appropriations Cmte has the authority to reject or accept the agency cuts proposed by the Governor.   It would be impactful to have a presence in the hearing room.  Of course anyone interested in testifying as to how the proposed cuts would impact the public would be welcome to do so.
  2. The Governor’s Town Hall Forums.   Another venue for employees/constituents to have a show of force.  The most recent  forum will be held from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Middletown City Hall inside of the Common Council Chambers (245 deKoven Drive, Middletown).  Try to arrive early as space is somewhat limited.
