When Do You Need To Retake Promotional Exams

Since Associate Accountant, Associate Accounts Examiner and Fiscal Administrative Officer are on continuous recruitment, we have been told it is not possible for DAS to place a statement on an Exam specification sheet as to when your own time on these exam lists will expire. We would advise everyone to create a BizNet account.

The following is a statement From DAS.

Upon passing a state exam, candidates are advised of the date on which the exam certification list expires and are also provided instructions to consult the DAS Website for employment information.  Lastly, the DAS Website – Employment Connection Page, State Employment Examinations section includes information specific to these concerns:

FAQ - Retaking Examinations:

FAQ - Retaking Examinations: I am on a current examination list and I see a new examination announced.  I am still interested in a job in this job title, should I apply for this new examination?

If you are on a current list for an examination, you should apply to retake the examination if the list you are on is going to expire within one year after the closing date for applications for the exam you see posted. (For example, if the closing date for the exam you see posted is June 20, 2012 and the list you are on is going to expire on June 19, 2013 or sooner, you should apply for and retake the exam in order to ensure your eligibility does not lapse.  If, on the other hand, the list you are on is going to expire after June 19, 2013, you must wait and apply for the next administration when it is announced.)  If there is an exception to this requirement, it will be stated on the examination announcement.

NEW! DAS Statewide HR now has the Applicant Active Examination List website. Create your BizNet account, if you don’t already have one, then login and track the active exams you’ve taken and their current expiration dates. Please note the site does not include failed exams or examination lists which have expired.
