Exam Denials and Appeals

If you receive a rejection letter for an exam, you have the right to appeal the rejection decision.

Two documents provide direction on the appeal process:

Written appeals must be received within 12 calendar days of the mailing of the denial notice. 

Appeals can be:

Appeals will be the burden of the applicant to demonstrate the rejection was unreasonable.

Appeals must include the following information:

                Applicant’s name

                Mailing address

                Email address

                Daytime phone number

Exam title and exam number

 and

Any supplementary information regarding your experience and/or education and how such experience and education meets the minimum qualifications of the exam.

The supplemental information should consist of past experience not on the original application or a clarification of duties in past or present experience…this information should be included when the request to appeal is submitted and must be submitted within the 12 day window.
