A&R has another impact bargaining agreement coming before the legislature on May 17.   We have 9 titles which cover 58 employees that have unionized and been accepted by the State Labor Board to join A&R.  The agreement will be brought to the Appropriations Committee on May 17th as House Resolution 32 (HR32) and Senate Resolution 33 (SR33).  If both of these agreements pass the Appropriations Committee, they will be put to the floor of the full House and the full Senate.  Our last agreement covered only 6 Tax Attorneys and passed by a 19-17 vote in the Senate, this agreement will cover 58

Our annual Healthcare Open Enrollment period has arrived.  This is the brief window of opportunity to change your Medical or Dental plan for the upcoming year (July 1, 2019 - June 30, 2020).  The Open Enrollment period begins on May 6 and ends on May 31. 

If you wish to make a change, you must notify HR/Payroll for your agency and they will make the change.

A few things to know:

  • There are no changes to our current health plan coverage for the upcoming year.
  • There are no changes to the HEP requirements for the upcoming year (view your 2019 HEP progress/requirements)

2019 Scholarship Recipients

Congratulations to all our 2019 Scholarship Award winners.

A&R awarded 10 Scholarships in the amount of $1,500 to children of active A&R members who are graduating High School this year entering post-secondary education in September 2019.

A&R also awarded 5 Scholarships in the amount of $1,500 to children of active A&R members who are continuing their post-secondary education.

A&R also awarded the presigious Harry Zilber Scholarship of $2500 to the child of one active A&R member.

Every year more people are killed at work than in wars.  Most don’t die of mystery ailments, or in tragic “accidents”. They die because an employer decided their safety just wasn’t that important a priority. Workers’ Memorial Day  commemorates those workers.  Workers’ Memorial Day is held on 28 April every year, all over the world workers and their representatives conduct events, demonstrations, vigils and a whole host of other activities to mark the day.

The day is also intended to serve as a rallying cry to “remember the dead, but fight for the living”.

Congratulations to the DRS Tax Attorneys!!!!!  We officially welcome you into A&R!!!!!

At long last, the A&R Tax Attorneys "impact bargaining" agreement has finally made its way through the legislature. (HR-23 & SR-26).  Having passed both chambers at the capitol, these formerly non-unionized state employees have achieved their goal of joining the A&R union.  The vote in the house was 84 to 62.  The vote in the senate was much closer, at 19 to 17.  Debate on the floor of both chambers was vigorous, with many elected officials voicing opposition to the agreement and opposition to union contracts
