Holiday Office Hours and Quick Updates

-12/23/25

First:  The A&R Office will close at noon on Wednesday 12/24 and will not re-open until Monday 12/29.  The office will close again at noon on 12/31 and won't re-open until Monday January 5th.

Second:  Our 43rd Annual A&R Convention will be held on Thursday April 9, 2026.  The Convention will start promptly at 5:00PM and will be held at the A&R Office (805 Brook St Building 4, Rocky Hill, CT).  All active A&R members (and ONLY active A&R members) are welcome to attend at no charge; food will be available.

Third:  It has been quite a long journey yet we are still haggling with the State over a decent wage offer.  At this point, both sides are very close but we have not locked down an agreement on wages for our next contract.  We still feel the State needs (and has the ability) to make a better wage offer therefore we will continue to meet with the State to reach an agreement while simultaneously preparing for interest arbitration.  We will have the impasse resolved soon either by agreement or via arbitrated decision.  In the meantime, Steps and TopStepPayments should have been applied on 12/26/25 but will not be awarded until we resolve the impasse.

Fourth:  Reminder about snow days: if you are reporting to the office during inclement weather, you have 1 hour of latitude to arrive.  This hour is charged as regular time on your time sheet.  In more severe situations, you have an additional 1.5 hrs to arrive ("more severe" is subjective and relative to others in a similar situation).  For a better understanding of your contract rights, see Article 16 Section 6 (pg 47) of your A&R Contract.  If you are scheduled to telework that day then you do not get that 1hr grace period.  If your office is closed on an "in-office" day then you cannot be compelled to telework (but you can if you choose to do so).
