Labor Walks and Phone Banking

We need members to particpate in the Connecticut AFL-CIO Labor to Labor Program.  Join fellow union members in phone banking and/or door knocking to spread the word about labor-endorsed candidates.  You can also volunteer to do vital office work to support the labor walk and phone banking activities.  Volunteers can even win a cash prize just for participating!  Dates, places can be found at Connecticut AFL-CIO Labor to Labor Program.

The reason A&R endorses candidates for the CT General Assembly Is pretty simple; it is the CT General Assembly that creates the budgets that dictate our wages and benefits and it is the CT General Assembly that creates the laws protecting (or eliminating) collective bargaining for State Employees.  Recently, we have had some concerns with some of the legislative actions taking place.  We had most Democrats abandon State employees during the budget adjustments last year and we have the Republicans campaigning for wage freezes, higher pension contributions and increasing employee cost sharing for health care (along with their attempts to eliminate unionization entirely in 2015).

All of this is within the power of the CT General Assembly.  A&R recognizes the importance of voting for legislators who uphold our ideals and goals so we endorse candidates that deserve our support.  So far, we have endorsed only 16 candidates for the House and Senate(list of endorsed candidates).  We also support the endorsed candidates in other ways such as door-knocking, literature drops, and phone banking.  We ask for volunteers among us to assist in these election activities.
