Some Reminders

Furlough Days

  • Furlough days must be taken prior to July 1st 2018
  • Furlough time is like PL time - use it or lose it...please don't call on July 2 saying you forgot to use your furlough day...you paid for them, take them.
  • Payroll deductions for furloughs will cease effective paycheck 6/22/18 (the pension pay back will also cease effective paycheck 6/22/18).

One Time Cash Payments

  • All members are to receive either $1000 (if at top step) or $2000.  The lump sum will be pro-rated for part-timers
  • OLR has made it clear that those retiring on June 30, 2018 will qualify for the payment.

Contract Book

  • The final draft of the revised contract book has been prepared and awaits final approval
  • Printing of the new contract will commence once we have final approval by OLR

Tuition Reimbursement

  • Tuition reimbursement funds are being processed at the Comptroller's Office
  • The Comptroller’s Office has been tackling the more recent claims first but will transition to the 2016/17 reimbursements shortly.  If you have a reimbursement request from 2016/17 which hasn't been paid yet, it will be addressed soon.

Longevity Payments

  • Longevity payments delayed from April are to be included in the July 20 paycheck

KRONOS Time Keeping System

  • SEBAC has issued a demand to bargain over this impactful time management boondoggle
  • We recognize that funding has already been approved to a large extent and the State continues to pursue deployment of this time keeping system.
  • A&R will have a seat at the table to negotiate the impact as this is considered a change in working conditions and we will continue to seek defunding this wasteful item.

Janus vs. AFSCME Lawsuit

  • A Supreme Court decision will likely be rendered in the next 3 weeks
  • Anti-union forces have begun to submit FOIA requests to obtain state employee home contact information from the State of Connecticut.
  • Don't be surprised if at some point in the future a private organisation contacts you with the goal of trying to convince you to leave your union.  Remember, this is their job, to convince union members to leave unions
  • This is an attempt to destroy public sector unions by the Yankee Institute and other Koch brother funded organizations
  • If you value having a seat at the table
  • If you are concerned about your securing your future
  • If you value having a say in negotiating your wages, working conditions, healthcare costs, and pension benefits
  • If you are contacted by one of these union busting organisations
  • TELL THEM YOU ARE UNION STRONG
