Step/TopStepPayment 12/27/24

Friday December 27, A&R employees who received a "good" annual service rating will receive their annual increment (also referred to as a "Step Increase").  If you did not receive an annual service rating this year then it is considered "good" for the purpose of the Step Increase.  A&R members who were at Step 9 last year will receive a 2.5% Top Step Payment.  The Step increase (or Top Step Payment) will be reflected in your January 24, 2025 paycheck.  A&R members currently in  "training" titles are not on the same "step" movement as permanent employees and will not receive the "January"  Step Increase.  Employees who are in their initial 6-month working test period will not receive a Step increase on December 27.  Employees in a two-year training class will get an increase on their one-year anniversary.

These are the last few days to use your 3 Personal Leave days; PL must be used before January 1 or they are forfeited, no exceptions to this rule.  3 new PL days will be awarded on January 1, 2025.

On January 1, 2025, there is a statutory change to Vacation and PL time.  As of January 1, employees in their 6-month initial working test period will be awarded monthly Vacation time and will be able to access that time as they earn it.

Lastly, yet very importantly, although there is a week remaining in 2024, it appears that the State will exceed their pension investment goal of a 6.9% return and therefore   (most likely) there will not be a Tier 4  2% pension "cost-sharing" surcharge from July 2025 thru June 2026.  It is not official yet as there is still a week remaining in the calendar year, but the pension fund appears to be in line to meet its goals for the calendar year and therefore avoid the 2% pension surcharge.
