Late last night (early this morning actually), the State Senate passed a bi-partisan budget bill by a 33-3 vote  While we have been monitoring the budget proposals for months, this final proposal was a closely guarded secret prior to passage.  The full budget (SB 1502) and the fiscal note are both now available.

The Budget Bill passed the State House today on a vote of 126-23 and will head to the Governor for approval or veto.

A&R member and union steward Jamie Findley is a Tax Corrections Examiner 2 at the Department of Revenue Services. Update 10/22/17
Legislative leaders from both political parties and from both chambers of the General Assembly have reached a budget agreement.  The specifics are slowly being revealed but we won't have the full details until the implementer bill is released within the next couple of days.  It appears that most of the anti- state employee language has been removed (certainly the harshest proposals have been defeated).  The budget cuts will still impact our work environments.   We will post the budget highlights when we have them.   As for the next official step: both chambers of the General

Furlough Update: A while back we explained that the A&R furlough language had changed.  This was true, however, agencies weren't allowing this to occur because they had not been given the updated "guidance" from OLR; agencies were operating under the original "guidance" which only allowed for 3 specific furlough days (Nov 24, Dec. 26, Dec. 27).   The agencies have now received the revised guidance so we can end the conflicting stories.  The new language reads as such:
