In anticipation of winter storm Quinn, the Governor's Office released the following statement:

"Governor Dannel P. Malloy today announced that all nonessential state employees will be sent home early in staggered phases of 15-minute intervals beginning at 12:00 p.m. today – Wednesday, March 7, 2018 – in order to better manage the evening commute given the significant winter weather conditions that are forecast to impact the state this afternoon.

Dear member

I don’t write to our full membership and activist community often, but the Janus v. AFSCME Supreme Court case warrants it.

The case is challenging the 45-year-old precedent that 23 states have used to determine wages, hours, and other terms and conditions of public employees’ jobs. On Monday, Feb. 26, there will be a day of action, with local events happening coast to coast, to defend our voice on the job and demand an end to an economy designed to favor the rich and powerful on the backs of working families.

In Connecticut, there will be four simultaneous rallies on Monday, Feb. 26, starting at noon:

At the 2/16 meeting of the State Bond Commission, all items before the commission were given a favorable vote, including the vote on funding for Kronos (the State Time Management System).  This isn't the last time you will see this issue.  This is clearly a waste of resources that many legislators are just not aware is occuring.  So we will continue to inform legislators about this foolishness...in the meantime, this system will start to be rolled out at various agencies.

If you wish to keep your legislator educated and focused on an issue, the easiest way is to talk to your legislator...the
