The attack on our future is underway.
A few weeks ago we alerted members that the newly formed State's Commission on Fiscal Stability and Economic Growth was expected to make recommendations to the Legislature on a variety of issues which may be extremely impactful to the future of organized labor in Connecticut. As you may recall, the the Commission is co-chaired by prominent business leaders, most of the board members come from big business, and the Commission invited the CBIA and the Yankee Institute to testify before the Commission.
The Commission has released a draft report.
Among its many recommendations:
- ending collective bargaining over pension & healthcare for new state employee contracts thus allowing benefits to be determined unilaterally by the legislature after June 2027
- amending binding arbitration laws to the detriment of working people
It is imperative that we let our voices be heard this Legislative Session. Changes like the above are the death knell for hard working, state employees.
Our future is on our own hands.
Call or email your legislator. Tell them that you don't support ending collective bargaining. Tell them that you don't want changes to binding arbitration.
TELL THEM THAT YOU WILL BE VOTING IN NOVEMBER!
