The first A&R furlough day is upon us...here is what you need to know:
Friday November 24th is a furlough day for A&R.
If you want Friday off, then it is yours...agencies are required to meet a threshold of "operational need" to override and designate someone to work on the designated furlough day (least senior employee loses). The State can only reject 1 of the furlough days for an individual...so if you were required to work on Nov 24th, then you cannot be required to work on either of the next 2 designated furlough days (Dec 26 and 27).
Despite Nov 24 being a furlough day, your office will be open and you may choose to work on Nov. 24th. If you choose (or are required) to work on Friday November 24th, then you should select another day for your furlough day (it is not required that you immediately declare when that furlough day will be).
You may choose to work either or both of the December furlough days, in which case you would again select another day for your furlough...the caution is: if you do not take the requisite 3 days of furloughs by June 30, 2018, you lose. You cannot take a furlough day after June 30, 2018. It is over.
