All current active Tier II and Tier IIA non-hazardous duty and Hybrid SERS members who were employed prior to July 1, 2011 and who will not be eligible for normal retirement before July 1, 2022 are eligible to retain normal retirement age but must elect to do so.
You must make the election to retain normal retirement by completing a form entitled The Option to Retain Grandfathered Normal Retirement Date for the State (CO-1984.) This election must be made by July 1, 2013.
Based on conflicting language in the agreement, there has been some confusion regarding people with June birthdays who will attain normal retirement just prior to July 1, 2022.
We have received clarification that if you reach normal retirement age/years in June 2022, you do not have to make this election to retain normal retirement age, you will automatically maintain age 60/62 as your retirement age and may retire on July 1, 2022 without an early retirement penalty.
