Healthcare Audit Underway

The Comptroller's Office is conducting an audit of dependents covered under the employee healthcare plan.  Remember, children can remain on the healthcare/dental plan until the end of the calendar year in which they turn age 26 then must be removed (with exceptions for some disabilities).  No boyfriends/girlfriends, roommates etc are to be covered.  Ex-spouses are not to be covered unless directed by the court; although the employee cost of the "family" plans will  not change, the ex-spouse still needs to be removed upon final dissolution of marriage.   If any of these situations are currently occurring, please correct them immediately.

The notice from the Comptroller's Office may request documentation that validates your dependent(s) as suitable to be covered on the health insurance, you can either submit the documentation or if you have already provided it you can indicate your attestation that you have already provided that documentation.  There seems to be some confusion surrounding the phrase "dependent children" when it comes to children over age 18; a dependent child remains a "dependent child" for purposes of healthcare coverage regardless of their residency, their marital status, their financial status...they remain a "dependent child" until they age-out in the calendar in which they turn 26.
