Quick Update 5/22/26

-5/22/26

First, a reminder that this is Memorial Day weekend honoring our fallen heroes. We wish everyone a safe, kind, and reflective holiday.

We also want to re-iterate that the target date for your raises and steps remains your June 11 paycheck. This means that the 2.5% General Wage Increase (GWI) and January 2026 Step increase would have been applied effective May 15. If this timeline holds true, back pay would stop accruing as of May 14.

Back pay is still targeted to be paid in your August 21 paycheck.

For those looking to estimate your own back pay:

• July 1 through December 25 (the final day prior to the step increase) totaled 1,024 hours at your adjusted GWI rate of pay (the 2.5% increase).

• December 26 through May 14 totaled 800 hours at your adjusted GWI + Step rate.

Your back pay would therefore be the difference between what you should have been paid during those periods and what you were actually paid for those combined 1,824 hours worked.

For members at Top Step who did not qualify for an additional step increase, your back pay will consist of 1,824 hours at your adjusted rate of pay plus your Top Step Payment.

To view our UNOFFICIAL July 1, 2025 pay charts, please follow this link. Please note these are not the official charts and may vary slightly due to rounding, but they should provide a close “ballpark” estimate.

The next raise will be another 2.5% GWI effective June 26, which should appear in your July 23 paycheck.

Next up will be negotiations on our Pension and Healthcare agreements. These remain the centerpiece of our overall benefits package, and we hope to have them completed — or substantially completed — in advance of the next legislative session opening in January 2027. Discussions are expected to resume later this summer as both sides prepare issues and proposals.
